A continuation of the card game that can be used with elementary students learning basic operations, or with older students with more complex variables. In this version we take it up a level with some new variations, and we also talk about a neat trick for those dreaded nine-times-tables called the “rule of nines.”

What you need:

  • A bored kid (or two or three)
  • Any math concept (addition, multiplication, division, even exponentials!)
  • A deck of ordinary playing cards
  • A pencil and paper for each player

Getting these math facts down will help any student of math moving forward.

Need help using the Coronavirus-related downtime in a way that is fun, productive, and helps your kids start the next year as confident math experts?
